Submitted by arico on Mon, 07/28/2008 - 6:50am.(HealthDay News) -- Researchers believe they have finally answered a basic question about the cause of celiac disease -- where in the body does the wheat protein gluten enter one's system?

Voting With Taste
Submitted by arico on Tue, 07/22/2008 - 12:48pm.Choosing your favorite brand of snack chip is compared to the challenge of selecting a candidate for this year’s presidential election in the June issue of Snack Food and Wholesale Bakery, a trade magazine for the snack food industry.
Today’s snackers can choose from a new generation of flavors. Arico’s Sea Salt Mist Cassava Chips is noted for its “populist but zesty” platform.
Much like potential voters, consumers make choices every day in what they purchase and eat. “Arico is socially and environmentally conscious driven,” notes Arico CEO Angela Ichwan in the article. “We’re passionate about changing the world and changing what people eat.”

Already prized for their high vitamin E and mineral content, new research indicates that almonds may also have a prebiotic effect in the digestive tract.
The Institute of Food Research recently conducted a study that suggests that almonds may improve digestive health by increasing levels of beneficial gut bacteria.
Researchers used a "model gut" to simulate the conditions of the GI tract and found that almond powder significantly increased levels of certain gut flora. The study was published in the July edition of Applied and Environmental Microbiology.
